Bayelsa Gov-elect To Get Certificate Of Return Thursday

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday said it will issue a Certificate of Return to the Bayelsa State governor-elect, David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress, on Thursday, November 21.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Head, Voter Education, and Publicity, INEC, Bayelsa State, Wilfred Ifogha.

Recall that INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, who is also the Vice-Chancellor, University of Benin had on Monday, November 18, declared Lyon winner of the governorship-election held in the state on November 16.

The final result declared by INEC showed that Lyon, received 352,552 votes to defeat his closest rival, Sen. Douye Diri, of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 143, 172 votes.

According to Ifogha, Lyon will get his certificate at a ceremony which will hold at the Prof. Mahmood Yakubu Media Centre in the commission’s office in Yenagoa.
