Bayelsa APC Vows To Participate In Saturday’s Election

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa State said it will participate in Saturday’s governorship election, notwithstanding the nullification of its governorship primaries by a High Court sitting in Yenagoa.

State Chairman of the party, Jothan Amos, who disclosed this on Thursday also said the party had will appeal the ruling of the court.

According to Amos, the party was optimistic of obtaining a stay of execution pending the determination of the appeal.

Recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa had on Thursday ruled that the APC governorship primaries held on September 4 was null and void as it was conducted arbitrarily outside the rules of the party.

The court thereforenullified the nomination of David Lyon as APC’s candidate.

Heineken Lokpobiri, one of the aspirants that sought the party’s ticket had gone to court to challenge the emergence of Lyon as the party’s flag bearer.

Recall also that a Federal High Court in Abuja had on Tuesday disqualified the party’s deputy governorship candidate in the November 16 election in Bayelsa.

Amos appealed to party followers to remain calm assuring that the party will overcome its challenges.
