The Emir made the statement when he led the people of Katagum Emirate on Sallah homage to Government House in Bauchi.

His words:  “The road projects undertaken by your administration in Azare and other parts of my Emirate have not only beautified Azare town, but have remarkably reduced accidents that have been claiming people’s lives for a long time. We therefore appeal to you to look into the rehabilitation of some other township roads in Azare to reduce the cases of flooding that have been recurring during rainy seasons.”

He added:  “I am sure Your Excellency is not aware of the state of the General Hospital, Azare, which has been working without the necessary equipment and conducive environment befitting a hospital, particularly power-generating sets.

“This sorry state of the most important state-owned hospital has forced our people in Azare to resort to the Federal Medical Centre Azare that is beyond the reach of the common man.”

Also, the Emir commended the governor for appointing Architect Audu Sule Katagum as the new Deputy Governor.

He pointed out that the new Deputy Governor “is an experienced, loyal and trustworthy person to work with.”

He said the appointment was an honour to the people of Katagum Emirate.

“Your Excellency, I must also commend you for cherishing friendship that has lasted over decades, which is a sign of good leadership quality found in few people that attain power. That you have kept relationship that lasted over four decades makes you a good leader,” he said.

The Emir assured the governor of the new Deputy Governor’s loyalty to the administration.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Mohammed Abubakar promised to complete ongoing projects initiated by his administration.

He also directed the state’s Ministry of Works to immediately assess the condition of Azare General Hospital and submit a report.
