The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed that the driver to former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, survived the attack which claimed the life of his boss.
Badeh was killed by unknown gunmen on Tuesday, Dec. 18, along the Keffi-Abuja Road.
He was returning from his farm in the company of a friend and his driver.
A statement on the preliminary investigation into the murder said the friend was abducted by the gunmen.
Some crack detectives have already been deployed to Nasarawa State on the orders of the Inspector General Idris Ibrahim and with the police and other security agents are searching for the abducted friend.
The statement said: “The former CDS suffered gunshot injury which resulted to his death,while his driver was injured and the said friend abducted.
“The corpse of the late Air Chief Marshal and the injured driver have been taken to Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Hospital, Abuja.”
According to the statement probe into the incident is ongoing with the visit to the scene of the murder by the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Yahaya Bello and some senior military personnel.
“Following the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State and some senior military personnel have visited the scene alongside IGP’s Intelligence Response Team ([RT) and Special Tactical Squad (STS), who are to carry out discrete investigation into the case.
“The Police Command, Nigerian Army and Air Force personnel led by Deputy Commissioner of Police were in the area immediately the incident occurred with a view to rescuing the abducted person and arrest the perpetrators of this dastardly act.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State has called on members of the public with useful information that can assist in the ongoing investigation to contact the police on the following lines 0803304I306 and 08033097663 saying such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
The death of Badeh on Tuesday came as a shock to Nigerians and has been condemned by the high and low.

The President, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, while commiserating with family and friends of the deceased, described his death as shocking and directed security agencies to find the killers.
In his reaction, the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, described Badeh’s murder as “crude and senseless.”
Some others have also queried the state of security in the nation insisting that the rate at which military personnel were being killed was a cause for serious concern.
Reacting to Badeh’s killing, Sen. Ben Bruce said: “Are we so caught up in APC versus PDP that we don’t notice Nigeria is falling right before our eyes?
“Soldiers being killed by terrorists at an alarming rate. Prominent Nigerians like Badeh are assassinated or kidnapped and killed. Whole states taken over by bandits. What is happening?
