Some suspected armed bandits ambushed an anti-terrorism team around Maru local government of Zamfara State on Friday.
It was gathered that one soldier was wounded in the encounter while two operational vehicles were burnt by the bandits.
The soldiers were however said to have killed some of the hoodlums while others escaped with bullet wounds.
Confirming the incidence on Sunday, Brig-Gen. Sani Usman, Army spokesman, said the ambush happened on Friday and the soldiers were in control.

He said no soldier was killed.
He added that the Army headquarters was still gathering intelligence on the ambush.
Bandits, it would be recalled, have been operating in the area, terrorizing innocent citizens.
The operations of the soldiers in the area have however reduced the level of their operations.
