The current Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Hajia Ramatu Tijani Aliyu, has refused to step down for Hajia Salamatu Bewa, despite pleas from Governor Yahaya Bello and other bigwigs of the party.
As it stands, that position will be keenly contested between Aliyu and Bewa.
Both of them are from Kogi State.
Aliyu is from Kogi West while Bewa is from Kogi East
The Next Edition gathered that all efforts to get Aliyu to step down for Bewa proved abortive.
A delegate from Kogi State who pleaded anonymity, said if election is held, Bello’s candidate, Bewa, would lose.

When asked why, he said “Bello’s backing will affect her negatively because Bello is unpopular.”
“Only Igbira delegates will vote her,” he said.
The Next Edition gathered that former Kogi West senator, Smart Adeyemi, is solidly behind Aliyu.
Delegates from Igala land (Kogi East) are also behind Aliyu.
It was also learnt that Bewa who the governor is supporting is also the candidate of the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha.
Time will tell if Aliyu will bow to pressure from the powers above.
