A source from the community told this newspaper the suspect has been having issues with the wife over her relationship with some persons in their neihbourhood.

However, at about 8.am, he decided to confront the wife over the suspicion she was having extra-marital affairs.

In the ensuing argument, he drew a cutlass and pursued the wife until she fell down and he inflicted deep cuts to her head and hands.

The women died almost immediately and he abandoned the corpse along the road before members of the community called in the police to arrest him.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Macdon Odiko, told The NEXT EDITION, the suspect has been arrested.

According to him, the suspect had accused the wife of infidelity before he resorted to killing her.

“The suspect has been arrested and placed in custody while we continue with investigations. However, preliminary report shows that he had accused the wife of infidelity. We do not know whether there are other motives for the action,” he said.

“We are still carrying out investigation to unravel what could have led to the incident.”
