The Government of Akwa Ibom State has alleged that plans by some persons to disrupt the forthcoming local government election in the state have been uncovered.
This, according to the government, was in spite of its efforts to create a level playing field for all participants in the election and an atmosphere of peace.
The government made the disclosure in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh.

The government however stated that it would not tolerate such a violation.
The statement reads in part: “Any attempt by those individuals to disrupt or cause a break-down of law and order in the state during the election will be dealt with accordingly.
“The cardinal responsibility of government is to ensure peace and safety of the people to carry out their legitimate functions and the Government of Akwa Ibom State remains dedicated to fulfilling this cardinal responsibility as defined by the principles of the social contract.
“Those behind this plan which government is well aware of, are advised to cease and desist from this plot.”
