A governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the October 10 election in Ondo State, Mr. Olayide Adelami, has paid glowing tributes to late governor of old Ondo State, Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua.

Olumilua, 80, died in the early hours of Thursday in his country home, Ikere Ekiti, after a brief illness.

According to Adelami, the late Olumilua, who was governor of the old Ondo State (now Ondo and Ekiti states) between January 1992 and November 1993, made a lot of positive impacts within the short time he was in office as governor of the state.

“We have indeed lost a gem in Ondo State. One cannot forget the developments strides; he brought to Ondo State while he was governor.

“One attribute that stood out for him was his love for democracy and the love of Nigeria. Even after he was kicked out of office by Abacha, he never stopped giving his all for the country.

“When I become governor next year by the grace of God, our administration will revisit some of his legacies especially on Agriculture to help bring out our state from economic doldrums at this critical time”

The former Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly also asked the Ondo State government to honour the late Olumilua by naming a state-owned facility after him.

“It is never too late to rename a public building after the former governor of the old Ondo state in honour of his short but memorable legacies. Now is the right to do that,” Adelami said.
