The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says 22 candidates with biometric challenges would sit for their 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination at its headquarters in Abuja.
The board’s weekly bulletin ‘JAMBULLETIN’ issued on Sunday in Lagos, noted that the figure is against the 24,490, whose examinations were rescheduled 2018 due biometric verification challenges.
The bulletin said; “Capturing candidates’ 10 fingers during registration is a vital component in the processing and documentation of the UTME and Direct Entry.
“No candidate will be allowed in the examination hall without first being verified. It is part of the screening mechanism to prevent impersonation.
“Before the commencement of the 2019 registration, the board made it clear that it will not reschedule examination for any candidate on account of biometric challenge.
“Any candidate whose finger prints could not be captured during registration at the CBT centre must visit JAMB headquarters in Abuja for his or her registration.”
The bulletin noted that this measure had reduced drastically, the number of candidates with biometric challenges.
According to the bulletin, out of the 52 names sent to the board from the various states across the country, only 22 so far showed up for the registration, despite the fact that the board will be responsible for their transportation, to and from Abuja.

It noted that the board’s Information Technology Service staff and the candidates unravel the misery behind their inability to be captured during their initial registration experience.
Meanwhile, JAMB also promised to announce the dates for the conduct of the 2019 Mock and the UTME soon.
It added that this became necessary following what it described as ‘unfounded rumour’ circulating in some quarters about new dates for the Mock and the UTME.
“The board introduced the Mock examination in 2017 to avail the candidates with the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the conduct of a computerised test, fine tune the board’s examination processes as well as test the facilities at the various Computer Based Test centres before the main examination,” the board added.
