The Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson on Tuesday called on leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain in the party.

The governor made the call just as the Supreme Court prepares to deliver judgement on the PDP national leadership tussle.

Dickson is the Chairman of the PDP National Reconciliation Committee.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser (Media Relations), Francis Agbo, Dickson said the party needed to be united to truly play the role of the opposition party.

Dickson expressed concern over the defection to other parties by PDP members.

He also expressed concern over the setting up of alternative parties by some members of the PDP.

Dickson said although the reconciliation template of his committee was good enough to solve the leadership crisis in the part, some opted for the court.

Governor Dickson said political leaders in Nigeria exert too much pressure on the judiciary by failing to do things right.

This, according to him, is by failing to build consensus as well as refusing to respect laid down rules of politics.

He, therefore, advised political leaders to stop relying on the judiciary to resolve what is essentially an internal party affair, stressing that internal disputes could best be resolved through a political solution.
