Sen. Adetokunbo Abiru, (APC, Lagos-East), has commiserated with the family and fans of late pop singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who died on Sept. 12 at the age of 27.

Abiru, who made the call in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, on Thursday in Lagos, described the death of Mohbad as painful and devastating.

Abiru, Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, called on relevant security agencies to thoroughly investigate the controversies surrounding the death of Mobhad and ensure that justice was done.

“I commiserate with the family, fans of late Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mobhad), and the entire Nigerian youths on the death of the talented artiste.

“I am particularly pained that Mohbad succumbed to the cold hands of death when it was time to fully harness the rewards of his creativity and labour of his thriving music career.

“Mohbad was one of the biggest success stories that ever came out of Ikorodu.

“He shattered socio-economic limitations occasioned by his family background, and broke into international limelight in the competitive music industry with hit tracks that gained traction across cultures and climes.

“I join concerned Nigerians, particularly the family of the deceased and Nigerian youths in demanding that thorough investigation should be carried out by the security agencies  on the allegations of homicide, and justice should be served.

“Let me also inform Nigerians that I have escalated the matter to the leadership of the Nigerian Senate. When the Senate resumes plenary on Tuesday, 26th September,” he said.

The senator also said he would formally present a motion on the need for a thorough investigation on the unfortunate death of Mohbad.

“As the senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, which also covers Ikorodu, where Mohbad’s family lives, I join to grieve our departed son, brother and friend.

“Mohbad’s legacies live on, Adieu, The Legend,” he said. (NAN)
