A former Senator, Dino Melaye has warned the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government against any attempts to arrest Bishop Mathew Kukah over his recent criticism of the current administration.

Melaye made this known via a tweet posted on his personal handle on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.

Equally important, the Kogi-born politician had accused the Federal Government of trying to cow everyone into silence. In addition, he had stated that any moves against Kukah will be firmly resisted.

‘‘Arrest or try to embarass Bishop Kukah and we will prove to you that Government is not owned by you but the people. They want to scare everybody. Ko jooooo. Kill fear and speak the truth to power,” Melaye tweeted.

Specifically, Melaye was reacting to the ruckus raised over Kukah’s comments which the FG has taken issue with. Rev. Kukah, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, had blasted Buhari for his perceived nepotism; claiming that a non-Northern President would have been impeached or deposed in a coup for it.

Further, he had railed against the wave of insecurity in Nigeria; even as he urged Nigerians not to lose hope and keep praying for the country.
