Mr. Ezekiel Daniel, the Senior Special Assistant the Delta Governor on Security Matters, has said that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa set up the ‘Operation Delta Hawk’ in line with the yearnings of the people.

Daniel, in a statement on Thursday, stated that Governor Okowa, set up the state’s security outfit to reassure the people that safety of their lives and properties were paramount to his administration.

Describing his principal as a listening governor, Daniel maintained that as a good leader, the governor weighed the people’s opinions, felt their purse before setting up the outfit as government was meant to serve the needs of the people.

Daniel said: “In the last few months, Deltans across board openly agitated for a home grown security outfit to complement the efforts of the Police, Army , Navy, Air Force and DSS to combat criminal elements making life unbearable for our people.

“As the voices of Deltans filled the air, the governor was assuring them that they voted for him in 2015, and returned him in 2019 because they believed in him, and for this singular reason, he would always do the needful by making protection of their lives and properties his watch word.

“With the formation of ‘Operation Delta Hawk, Okowa is on his way to fulfilling his social contract with Deltans. Security is the lifewire of every society, hence nothing should be spared in working out strategies for a peaceful state we all yearn for.”

Daniel urged the people of Delta State to continue to cooperate with the Okowa administration by fulfilling all their civic responsibilities for them to continue to enjoy the benefits of good governance.

He maintained that Okowas as the Chairman of the South-South Governors’ Forum, had shown the way, which his colleagues in the geo-political zone had been following.

“With the setting up of ‘Operation Delta Hawk’, criminals will find the state too hot for comfort. It is better they turn a new leaf now, or relocate elsewhere because there is a new sheriff in town,” Daniel added.
