The distribution of COVID-19 prevention kits and sensitisation took the lawmaker to various markets, health centres, the Igwe’s palace and the Anglican, Catholic and Pentecostal churches in Ogbaru.

He urged the people to stay safe, avoid handshakes, hugging and always maintain a social distance from one another in this period of the crisis, just as he told them to report suspected cases of Coronavirus to relevant authorities through the toll-free number provided by government to further contain spread.

Udeze stated: “As the scourge of Coronvirus continues, we in Ogbaru must always adhere strictly to all the precautionary measures to ensure that this virus doesn’t spread amongst us.

“We as a people must keep distances from social activities, especially from our relatives who might be visiting from worst hit states like Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“This is not in any way an attempt to create discrimination, but in a bid to ensure safety of all of us as a people.

“We must also report to appropriate authorities through the toll free numbers as provided by the state government, any suspected case of fever, cough and other symptoms of this dreaded virus.

“Modalities have been put in place to ensure all markets, health centres and palace will be mounted with hand washing fonts and presented these kits.

“I urge all benefiting churches, health centers, palaces and markets to ensure all visitors make use of these kits and to ensure the safety of these presented kits.

“I reassure you that I will do my best to ensure this scourge is prevented from raising its ugly head in our land, we must know that maintaining personal hygiene remains a priority.

“I, therefore, call on market leaders, church leaders and landlords to as a matter of urgency to erect and enforce the use of hand washing fonts in all markets, churches and buildings that might not be captured in this distribution.

“Individuals who have the financial capacity can also help in this fight against this dangerous virus,” the lawmaker advised.
