The Director General of Atikulated Agenda 2019, Chief Emeka Kalu, has warned that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will remain an opposition party if it does not nominate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for 2019.
He gave the warning as the former ruling party and its numerous candidates prepare for the primary elections to pick its flag bearers for the various elective positions.
He said only Atiku could defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential election.
The Waziri Adamawa is expected to square up with aspirants like Senate President Bukola Saraki; Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; former Caretaker National Chairman of the party, Ahmed Makarfi; former Senate President, David Mark, among others.
Dr. Kalu, who spoke on Tuesday, also warned that there might be a full-blown dictatorship by the incumbent government, and that Nigerians would migrate to other countries to survive.
His words: “The nation is at a very critical stage at the moment, where the ruling party is not prepared to hand over if it is defeated.
“Only a very competent, experienced and popular candidate like Atiku can match the All Progressives Congress (APC) and decisively defeat them.
“This is my final warning to the PDP. If the ticket is not given to Atiku, be assured that our great party will remain an opposition party.”

He stressed that Atiku remained the only bet to take back the seat of power from the APC, adding that PDP must jettison friendship and financial gain in favour of the survival of the country.
According to him, “We must look beyond all these and know that Nigeria is at a very critical stage. I call on PDP to do the needful or remain fighting as opposition.
“Mark my words, the only one that can match Buhari is Atiku Abubakar, any other person will be eaten like kolanut by Baba Buhari, and that will bring us back to opposition.
“Presidential aspirants must understand that what I have said does not in any way mean to disrespect them, but the truth must be said. Atiku will rule for a single term and someone else will take over. But, this can only happen if power is wrested from the APC first.
“We must salvage this country now or never, for our youths, for our children, for the common man.”
