The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, on Thursdaypresented the breakdown of the 2018 budget.

Tagged Budget of Consolidation, the document was signed by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The president sparked the fire of controversy as he expressed outrage over changes carried out on the document by the National Assembly without allegedly giving due consideration to the possibility of implementing the budget.

In the presentation of the breakdown of the N9.1 trillion budget, Udoma Udo Udoma explained that the 2018 budget is designed to consolidate on the achievements of the 2016 Budget of Change and the 2017 Budget of Recovery and Growth.

This, he said, was with the aim of advancing delivery of the goals of Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP)2017–2020.

The 2018 budget, it would be recalled was sent to the National Assembly by the president for approval on  November 7, 2017.

It was passed by the National Assembly on May, 16 2018, transmitted to the president on May 25, 2018 and assented to by the president on June 20, 2018.
