Two teenagers, aged 17 years each, who allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl (names withheld), were on Wednesday brought before a Tinubu Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
They are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, rape and sexual assault.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, remanded the boys in the Borstal Training Home, a juvenile reformatory home, in Adigbe, Abeokuta.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Hafsat Ajibode, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on Jan.19 at Block 12 Obalende Police Baracks, Lagos.
Ajibode said that the two friends gang raped the 16-year-old girl during her visit to a friend house.
She said that that the victim, on a visit to her classmate house, was raped by her friend’s elder brother and his friend.
“The girl went to her friend’s house on visit; she was left in company of her friend’s elder brother and his friend to get her some refreshments.

“The teenagers locked the door and forcefully had sexual intercourse with the girl.
“She went back home in tears to tell her mother, and this led to the arrest of the boys,” Ajibode said.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The offences contravene Sections 258 (2), 263 (1) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 258 (2) carries life imprisonment; Section 263 (1) prescribes five years and Section 411 attracts two years imprisonment.
The case was adjourned until Feb. 20 for legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution’s (DPP).
