The Commissioner of Police in Benue State, CP. Tunji Akingbola has reiterated his commitment to fight crime and ensure a peaceful yuletide and beyond.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, the Commissioner said the attention of Benue State Police Command has been drawn to indiscriminate use of fireworks popularly known as “knockouts” in the past one week.
He noted that the practice can ignite fire that can spreed, cause panic and disturb public peace.
“Criminals can also hide under the guise of fireworks to perpetuate crime.

“Similarly, motorcyclist are still seen operating during late hours as against the order on restriction of motorcycle movement.
“By this notice, motorcyclists are warned to operate within 6a.m and 8p.m as specified by the order.”
The Commissioner stated that while enforcing the ban and restriction on motorcycles, the command will also ensure that Benue residents celebrate the festive period in an atmosphere of peace.
