The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Command, has deployed 1,800 personnel and 21 patrol vehicles for a hitch free Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state.
The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mrs Uche Chukwurah, made the disclosure to journalists on Monday in Ibadan.
Chukwurah said that a tow truck, an ambulance, breathalyzers, among others would also be deployed for the exercise.
She said that the special patrol operation tagged “Operation Zero Tolerance,” which commenced on Monday, December 14, 2020 to end on January 15, 2021, was to tackle the traffic gridlock on major roads in the state.

The sector commander said that some turning point identified at Iwo road would be blocked to guard against motorists driving against traffic and ensure free flow of traffic in the area.
She commended the Controller of Works in Oyo State and the construction company handling some failed portions of the Iwo road and Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for smooth flow of traffic.
Chukwurah said that 24 hours rescue team would also be on ground in all FRSC formations for prompt rescue services.
“FRSC will sustain its aggressive motor park public enlightenment campaign across the state to ensure maximum compliance with directives on physical distancing, use of face mask to avoid the spread of COVID-19,” she said.
The sector command said that the corps would deal with motorists caught disobeying traffic rules and regulations. (NAN)
