An NGO, Network of Women with Disabilities, has urged the three tiers of government to urgently address the state of insecurity in the country.
This was part of the decisions reached by the women at one-day programme held in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, tagged: “SecureOurLives.”
At the programme attended by no fewer than 50 participants and four representatives of the organisation in Ekiti, they said that it would save the country from the looming anarchy.
One of the representatives of the NGO, Mrs Helen Ibitoye, urged the three tiers of government to swing into action and find a lasting solution to the issue of insecurity.

According to her, incessant cases of kidnapping, murder, raping, among others, necessitated a call for declaration of a state of emergency on insecurity.
“It is obvious that insecurity has become the single most serious problem that is facing our country today and people with disabilities, women and children are the most affected.
“Many of our members are being kidnapped, while our female children are being raped, and molested, simply because of their challenge, while our normal lives are being disrupted on daily basis.
“What this means is that the country is gradually drifting into a state of anarchy. This, no doubt, portends a grave danger for our collective wellbeings,” Ibitoye said.
According to her, this is not time to play the blame game, but we all must come together to fight this hydra-headed monster of insecurity that is making life difficult for our people.
Ibitoye said that the network of women with disabilities cut across the 36 states of the federation with the objective of joining other Nigerian women to fight against insecurity.
She said that the programme was currently being carried out in 11 states of the federation.

Ibitoye said that this was because the organisation was concerned about the various security challenges ravaging the country.
Also, Mrs Olusola Omoboja, said the issue of insecurity had made it difficult for women to move around freely in the communities.
Omoboja said: “We have to amplify our voice to those concerned for government to help us put a stop to this insecurity.
“Enough of these killings, raping of our women and girls, and enough of abducting our children.”
She urged women to rise up and speak against any form of violation, abuse, molestation and rape in the society. (NAN)
