The need to see how President Muhammadu Buhari is faring and brief him about developments back home informed my visit to London, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has revealed.
Osinbajo who spoke with State House Correspondents shortly before the Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said he thought it was necessary for him to see the president in person.
This, he said, was despite the fact that they discussed regularly on phone.
His words: “It will be a good thing to go and see him and also brief him on developments back at home.”
The Acting President spoke about the health of the president whom he said he spoke with for over one hour.
According to him, Buhari was recovering fast and might soon be in the country earlier than most people might have thought.
“We had a very good time, we had a good conversation on wide ranging issues; he is in a very good spirit. He is recuperating very quickly and he is doing very well…
“We had a very long conversation, we spoke for well over an hour and his humour is there and he is doing well”.
Although he could not state the exact time the president would return to the country, he assured that he would return “very, very soon.”
Osinbajo reacted to belief that one of the major reasons for his trip was to discuss the possibility of swearing in the two ministers from Gombe and Kogi states.
According to him, he did not discuss the matter with the president.
Osinbajo travelled to London Tuesday to visit Buhari who is on medical vacation.
He returned to the country shortly after the meeting to carry on the business of governance.
