Nollywood veteran Romanus Amuta popularly known as ‘Natty’ in ‘New Masquerade’ has died.
The 79-year old actor passed away on February 9, 2022 following a long illness. His first son, Chukwuma Amuta, affirmed his father’s death during a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu.
He said, “Yes! My father died this morning in Lagos after a protracted illness.”
Romanus Amuta was from Ukana in Enugu State’s Udi Local Government Area who worked in the media with the Daily Times Newspapers prior to entering the movie industry.

Amuta received his major breakthrough in Nollywood after starring in one of the most successful TV programmes of the 1980s, ‘New Masquerade’ which aired on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). He has also appeared in Nollywood films such as “Lion Finger” (2003), “Eagles Bride” (2005), and “Ijele” (1999).
