Five persons have been allegedly killed with several others injured in an attack by suspected herdsmen at Tse Udeghe, Mbapa council ward of Gwer West local government of Benue state.
The incident reportedly took place at about 7p.m on Thursday after herdsmen blocked Naka-Makurdi Highway and shot at a passing bus killing one occupants at Ahumen area of the road.
Our correspondent gathered that heavily armed herdsmen stormed the village at about 4:30p.m in their large numbers and operated without resistance.
Gwer West Council Security Officer Justine Chikpa who confirmed the story told journalists that one Iorwundu Ihyo, his son, Shimayohol Iorwundu and two others, Chiahemba Orkenevihi, Nyinongu Orkenevihi, who are relatives, were all killed by the herdsmen militia.

He noted that Mbapa which has eight council ward in Gwer West, has been take over by the herdsmen.
When contacted, Chairman of Gwer West, Mrs Grace Igbabon, expressed worries over what she described as persistent attacks on her local government which she noted were without provocation.
She said she has donated ten 10 motorcycles to the military to facilitate their movement in fighting herdsmen militia in the local government.
The council boss who expressed worries over the high influx of herdsmen militia in the local government, called on the military to employ the rules of engagement to tackle the militia issues in order to secure the local government.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, said she was yet to receive any information on the case.
