Umahi fires Commissioner for Justice

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has fired the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Augustine Nwankwagu, with immediate effect.

In a statement by the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief Clement Nweke, Nwankwagu was accused of  “acts inconsistent with his office.’’

The statement said that Nwankwagu, who was a former Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, was to handover all government property in his possession to the permanent secretary in the ministry.

“This directive should be carried out before close of work on Thursday, November 2, 2017,” he said.

Nwankwagu had been on indefinite suspension for negligence of duty.
