The EFCC zonal office, Makurdi, Benue State has arrested two men; Moses Adukwu and Iorlumun Reuben for currency Counterfeiting and fraud.
The two fraudsters met their waterloo when the EFCC Makurdi zonal office received a case transferred from the Department of State Service, DSS against Iorlumun Reuben and Moses Adukwu.
The Zonal Head, Public Affairs Department, EFCC, Nwanyimma Okeanu in a press release stated that the 27 year old Iorlumun Reuben, from Vandeikya local government Area of Benue State, was arrested by men from DSS who rescued him from being lynched.
She said he had purchased airtime from a woman who noticed that Reuben had paid her with fake currency and alerted people around.
When interrogated, Reuben stated that he was introduced to the business by another man, still at large, who had also introduced him to a supplier called Moses Adukwu.
He also confessed to still being in possession of about N18,000 fake currencies which was unable to spend before his arrest.
The statement said Moses Adukwu, 33 years, hails from Olamaboro local government Area of Kogi state, a former bus driver who joined the Counterfeiting business in 2017.
He alleged he was introduced to the business by one Mohammed still at large. He also stated that he had visited Lagos to get his consignment but his meeting with the supplier was conducted under the Oshodi bridge.
He was said to have paid genuine money into the supplier’s account while his consignment of fake currencies were sent to him by Waybill process.
Adukwu revealed during interrogation that for N50,000 real currency, he gets about N400,000 fake notes in four packets.
He then sells each pack of fake currency for twenty five thousand naira of real currency.
Nwanyimma said Iorlumun Reuben and Moses Adukwu are assisting the EFCC in their investigations and will soon be arraigned in court.
