Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal has called on politicians refrain from using youths as political thugs even as he enjoined them to have the fear of God.
The governor, made the appeal at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders meeting in Sokoto on Thursday.
He pleaded with politicians and other members of the society not to promote political restiveness in the state, advising them to avoid violence.
Tambuwal said his administration had maintained crime-free communities by supporting educational development as well as engaging youths in various empowerment schemes, but with the fast approach of the 2019 elections, he solicited for the support of parents, community leaders and others to ensure that peace was sustained in the state.

He exhorted the people to live in peace and promote actions that encourage peaceful coexistence.
On the outcome of the PDP presidential primary which he termed ‘successful,’ Tambuwal said he believed that God gives power to whom he wishes reiterating that he had already congratulated the winner and enjoining politicians to practise politics with national interest and people’s development in their hearts.
Tambuwal enjoined party loyalists to work toward ensuring its success at all levels.
Some of the party chieftains present at the event were; Ibrahim Milgima, Chairman of the party with other executives, Sen. Ibrahim Danbaba and former minister, Muntari Shagari, among others present.
