The President of the Students Union Government (SUG) of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, Adegboye Olatunji, has been arrested by the police in connection with cult activities.
He was arrested along with one Olarewaju Taiwo.
According to the Ogun State Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the two were arrested on Sunday while dressed in the full regalia of their cult in a bush at Gbogidi area of Ilaro as they were allegedly trying to initiate new members into the Black Axe Confraternity.
Oyeyemi, in a statement on Monday, disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer, Ilaro Divisional Police Headquarters, Olayemi Jacob, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), acting on a tip-off led a team of policemen to the bush and arrested the two with the help of some members of the public.

He said the police had received information that the suspects were sighted in the bush and were about to initiate new members.
According to the police spokesman the suspects have been taken into custody at the Ilaro Divisional headquarters where they are being currently interrogated.
He disclosed however, that the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, has directed that the suspects be transferred to the anti-cultists unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation.
