The meeting between the federal government and striking university lecturers on Thursday ended without reaching an agreement.
The meeting had been called at the instance of the Education minister, Adamu Adamu, to seek resolution to the strike.
The lecturers under the auspices of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, had embarked on an indefinite strike on November 5.
Meanwhile, the union has said the strike would continue until its demands are met.
ASUU is demanding improved funding of universities and welfare of lecturers.
Rising from the meeting, Labour and Employment Minister, Chris Ngige, said discussion with ASUU will continue next week.
He pleaded with the lecturers to consider the interests of student as who are at the receiving end of their action.

President of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, also confirmed that the meeting will continue next week though no date has been fixed adding that the union has made its request known.
He explained that the strike had become necessary following government’s refusal to honour an agreement reached in 2009 even after several follow-up meetings and reminders.
He said: “Our meeting with the education minister in May and September to remind him about federal government promises to implement the agreement yielded no result.”
Thursday’s meeting began 3p.m and ended 8:15 p.m.
