After three months and ten days of strike, members of the non-teaching staff of Nigerian universities have sheathed their sword.
They called off their strike on Wednesday.
The unions involved are the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU).
The national chairman of the Joint Action Committee of the unions, Samson Ugwoke, announced the suspension at a press briefing.

He said the members of the unions would resume work on Thursday as a directive had been given to that effect.
The unions however warned that they would resume the strike if the government “reneges on the agreements reached or delays in any aspects.”
The strike which was started on December 4, 2017, the unions said, became unavoidable in view of the inability of the federal government to clarify the criteria for the disbursement of the N23 billion released by the government to the university unions which SSANU, NASU and NAAT claimed was meant for the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
The unions claimed that only an insignificant amount was given to the three non-teaching staff unions.
