Sri Lankan Police scored their largest-ever drug bust on Sunday when they found 295 Kilogrammes of heroin that traffickers were set to distribute nationwide.
The discovery was made in the Captial Colombo, when narcotics officials found the drugs valued at of 16.4 million dollars packed into travelling bags and loaded insides two vans, Superintendent of Police Ruwan Ganasekara has said.
According to Ganasekara, two suspects were arrested during the raid and held for questioning.
He said that Police were being expected to arrest several others involved in the distribution of the drugs.

Prior to Sunday, Sri Lanka’s largest drug seizure had been 231 Kilogrammes of heroin in 2018.
Police in Sri Lanka have stepped up their crackdown on drug traffickers following a directive issued by President Maithripala Sirisena.
The president had vowed to re-implement the death sentence on those found guilty of drug trafficking.
Though, court had sentenced persons to death for crimes on murder and narcotics offences, the government has not implemented the sentence since 1976.
Police say it has detected a total of 520 Kilogrammes of heroin and arrested 6,657 people.
