Southern Kaduna: Another 4 Killed In Fresh Attacks

Four persons, have been killed in another round of reprisal attacks on four villages in Zango-Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Among those killed in the attacks which took place on Saturday, was an unidentified herdsman.

The state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, who made this known in a statement on Sunday, said the four villages attacked by gunmen were Ungwan Gaiya, Ungwan Gimba, Ungwan Makama and Apimbu.

The statement was titled, ‘Four killed in further reprisal, as more troops are deployed in flashpoints…El-Rufai reiterates stand on recourse to the law’.

Aruwan said the military and the police informed the government of the latest attacks.

He further stated that the attacks followed the counter-attacks and killing of seven herders at Ungwan Idi and Kasheku of Kauru Local Government Area.

He said that troops, following clearance operations at Ungwan Gaiya, Ungwan Gimba and Ungwan Makama of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, three more corpses were recovered, two of which were identified, while another could not be identified.

Aruwan gave the names of those killed as; Noel Markus (35), Titus Thomas (32), and an unidentified herder, adding also that two mobile phones were recovered.

He added that the corpses and other valuables were handed over to the police for further investigation and analysis.

The commissioner further disclosed that the military confirmed that two houses were burnt in the Apimbu attack adding, “In the meantime, troops of Operation Safe Haven and Special Forces are still carrying out operations in Kauru and Zangon Kataf Local Government Areas.”
