Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have attacked a community in Logo Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue state, killing six persons and leaving many others with gunshot and machete wounds.
The Next Edition gathered that the incident occured at about 9p.m on Wednesday, at Tse Ngojov and Tse Valem Yaweh of Mbagum community in Tombo council ward.
Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on Security, Lt. Col. Paul Hemba, who confirmed the incident to journalists on phone, said the Council Chairman, described the incident as sad.
He said Governor Samuel Ortom has directed that the wounded be moved to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, BSUTH, in Makurdi, while arrangements be made to bury those killed.
He said the injured persons receiving treatment at the Primary Health Care, PHC, facility at Ayilamo in Logo LGA.

Earlier, the Chairman of Logo LGA, Mrs. Salome Tor also confirmed the killings saying, “six people were killed, 12 people were badly injured and corpses of deceased persons have been deposited at the Primary Health Care Center in Ayilamo.
“People are running helter-skelter, moving from the hinterlands to the Ayilamo town.
“I have reported the matter to the security adviser to the Governor and sent him pictures of those killed including the injured.
“The attack was without provocation and it occurred at 9pm on Wednesday”.
