Former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, has declared that the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to concede 51 per cent of the party’s state structure to Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso led to his exit.

The concession, he said, was from the state to ward level.

Shekarau made this known on Saturday when he formally declared his defection from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC, at a meeting with his loyalists.

The meeting was held at his Mundubawa Avenue residence in Kano State.

He complained that the injustice was too much for him to bear, hence his defection.

It would be recollected that Kwankwaso defected to the PDP from APC recently where Shekarau was.

Also, it would be recalled that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, and some chieftains of the party, stormed Kano State on Friday to welcome Shekarau.

Speaking during the visit, Oshiomhole said nobody could be said to be more progressive than Shekarau.

“I am extremely delighted to be in your midst because it is an opportunity for me to meet and reunite with you.

“We have come to reunite with a friend, comrade and a real Progressive in order to move our party forward.

“From your lifestyle and what you did for Kano State, nobody can claim to be more Progressive than you. We know it is condition that make crayfish bend.”

Oshiomhole said his return to APC would not bring development to Kano State alone, but to the country in general.

He said the history of APC would not be complete without due reference to Shekarau.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State promised a cordial relationship with Shekarau.

“I am the happiest person in the state because the dream has come true as we have always been good friends and brothers,” Ganduje said.

Shekarau expressed gratitude to the leadership of APC for the visit.
