Senatorial Poll: Dankwambo Loses, Amosun wins, Ajimobi Struggling

Ibrahim Dankwambo, two-term governor of Gombe, has lost out in his bid to represent Gombe north senatorial district in the Upper Chamber.

The governor, who contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was defeated by Sa’idu Alkali of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Alkali won in four of the five local government areas of Gombe north senatorial district with 152,546 votes while Dankwambo polled 88,016 votes.

In Ogun, Gov. Ibikunle Amosun, a two-term governor like Dankwambo won in senatorial bid.

The crisis in Ogun APC notwithstanding, Amosun polled 88,110 votes to defeat Titi Oseni-Gomez, his Action Democratic Congress ADC, rival who had 65,101 votes. Oseni was former speaker of the Ogun house of assembly.

But in Oyo, Abiola Ajimobi, the governor, is struggling to hold unto the senatorial seat in Oyo south. Kola Balogun, the PDP candidate, has won in all of the four local government areas announced so far.
