Senate President Announces Principal Officers, Yahaya, Kalu Emerge Senate Leader, Chief Whip

President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan has announced the appointment of principal officers of the Red Chamber following a letter from the two main political parties.

He announced Senator Abdullahi Yahaya as Senate Leader, while Senator Ajayi Borrofice was named Deputy Senate Leader.

Senators Orji Uzor Kalu and Abdullahi Sabi were announced as Chip Whip and Deputy Chief Whip of the upper chamber respectively.

Other principal officers included Senators Enyinanya Abaribe and Emmanuel Bwacha of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who respectively emerged as Minority Leader and Deputy Minority Leader.

Senator Phillip Aduda was named Minority Chief Whip while Senator Sabi Yau emerged Deputy Minority Whip.

The appointments were announced on Tuesday as the newly inaugurated lawmakers returned from a two-week recess.
