Senate approves establishment of 10 higher institutions

The Senate has approved the establishment of 10 new higher institutions across the country.

The resolution followed the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund presented for consideration by the committee’s chairman, Jibrin Barau.

According to the lawmakers the establishment of these would open up the education sector in the country and aid the fight against illiteracy.

Furthermore, the Senate said the approval for the establishment of the institutions was in line with the policy to establish polytechnics across the states.

The approved include Federal University of Technology, Manchok; National Institute of Construction Technology and Management; Federal Polytechnic, Kabo; Federal Polytechnic Daura and Federal University of Education, Aguleri.

Others are Federal College of Education (Technical) Arochukwu, Abia State; Federal Polytechnic, Ikom; Federal Polytechnic Langtang, Plateau State and Federal Polytechnic Kwale, Delta State Federal College of Education, Usugbenu-Irua.
