It was glitz and glamour at the 14th annual Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) where Nollywood actors, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Joke Silva, Dakore Egbuson, Gideon Okeke and others emerged winners in different categories.
Held at the Intare Conference Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, on Saturday, the event began with a red carpet which kicked off at 6pm (Nigeria time) and the guests did not disappoint.
Actors and actresses from across Africa including, Rita Dominic, Joselyn Dumas, Lydia Forson, Kunle Afolayan, Gideon Okeke, Fred Amata, Chris Attoh, Ken Erics and many others were in attendance.
Prolific actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) bagged the award for the Best Actor in a Leading Role, for the part he played in the movie ‘Cross Roads’ while Veteran actress, Joke Silva, emerged as the Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her character in the movie ‘Potato Potahto’. Dakore Egbuson picked the price as best actress in leading role for her character in the movie ‘Isoken,’ while the movie itself emerged as the best Nigerian movie.
The biggest winner of the night was the South Africa movie, “Five Fingers of Marseilles” directed by Micheal Matthews. The movie won a total of five awards including the Overall Best Movie.
