The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said that it remains committed to Nigeria’s battle against polio and other child killer diseases.
This assurance was given on Saturday by WHO Regional Director for Africa, Mrs. Masthidisco Moeti, at a press conference in Maiduguri, Borno State.
She said that the organisation would work hand in hand with other groups to rehabilitate and upgrade health facilities affected by insurgency.
This, according to her, would ensure quality healthcare delivery to the displaced persons in liberated communities.
He words: “WHO is providing support to control malaria, cholera, measle, diarrhoea, polio and prevention of other child killer diseases.

“We are providing technical support and surveillance and conducted sensitisation activities to promote use of mosquito treated nets.
“The organisation is fully involved in various programmes designed to streamline support for the health needs of the people in the North-East.”
Moeti also revealed that the organisation had established 130 mobile clinics to enhance access to quality healthcare services and control spread of diseases.
Speaking at the occasion too, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State praised WHO for its efforts.
The governor who was represented by Deputy Governor, Usman Durkwa, also emphasized the commitment organization to polio eradication and improved healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
