The Channels Television Reporter shot during Monday’s clash between the police and protesting Shi’ites is dead.
Precious Owolabi, a 23-year-old Corps member serving with the television station was hit in the stomach by a stray bullet while covering the protest by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.
His death brings the official death toll to three although some reports claim higher casualty figures.
One of the other casualties of the violent clash was a Deputy Commissioner of Police with the FCT command, Usman Umar, who was shot while trying to pacify the protesters.
The Shi’ites were demanding the release of their leader, El-Zakzaky, who has been in detention since 2015.
