Organisers of the Nigerian Online Merit Award (NiOMA) have announced the postponement of the event originally scheduled to hold on Friday in Lagos.
NiOMA Organising Committee Chairman, Mr. Lanre Alabi, said in a statement on Tuesday that the postponement was necessitated by the muslim fasting period, Ramadan.
“We sincerely regret any inconveniences which this development may cause our esteemed awardees and guests. The event will now take place after the Ramadan, at a date to be made public in due course,” Alabi said.
He restated that Honourable Minister for Communications, Adebayo Shittu, and Africa’s Serial Digital Entrepreneur, Leo Stan Ekeh, would headline the event while former Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, would serve as chairman.
The occasion, according to the NiOMA Organising Committee Chairman, “will be used to x-ray topical ICT issues facing the nation.”
He assured that the event would be a grand one as it would attract senior executives, top government functionaries, industry leaders, market analysts, professional groups and diverse economy sectoral leaders, among others.
A brainchild of Nigeria’s leading daily online newspaper, News Express Nigeria (newsexpressngr.com), NiOMA is designed to celebrate outstanding individuals and organisation driving the Nigerian online revolution.
