The Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Reverend Frederick Ikyaan, Saturday, kicked off his 2019 Gubernatorial campaign in the State in the presence of a massive crowd.

Speaking during the flag off ceremony in Adikpo, headquarters of Kwande Local Government Area of the state, Ikyaan called on party leaders to mobilize their communities to troop out on March 2nd and vote the PRP into government house.

Ikyaan said he and the entire PRP candidates are in the race to resuscitate the 43-year old Benue state from its present depressing condition.

In his words, Ikyaan regretted that “our Benue of tremendous potentiality has been turned into a limbo of all-round, perennial backwardness and massive misery.

“Caught in this resulting frustration, particularly the youths, our future and hope, are so disillusioned that many have found refuge in hard drugs, cultism, hooliganism, armed robbery, kidnapping and rape among other vices.

“Business activities are low and slow while our so-called “civil service” state has long been starved of workers’ salaries, pensioners’ benefits and contractors, their due payments.”

Ikyaan who further flayed the bastardization of Benue’s public primary school system, and dearth of industries in the state assured that when voted into office, he will fulfil the yearnings of the Benue people for a fair, open and honest governance which places the common good over and above private wealth accumulation.

He named security, law and order, agriculture, wealth and job creation, human development and critical infrastructure as part of the policy blue print that will be religiously pursued and executed by his administration between 2019 and 2023.

Other areas, he said, include commerce and industry, housing, environment and sanitation as well as health aspect of human development.

Ikyaan who expressed optimism that with a free and fair election, the PRP would coast home to landslide victory in all of the elective offices the candidates are vying for also assured that the PRP will ensure equitable distribution of the scarce resources to enable all citizens realize their potentials.

He then urged the electorates in Benue state to vote for all the candidates of the PRP during the general elections, because according to him, that is the only way to effect positive change in the state.

The National Chairman of the party, Mr. Falalu Bello who expressed confidence that the PRP was ready to win the general election, called on the political umpire to ensure free and fair conduct of elections.

Represented by the National Secretary, Babatunde Aminu, Malkam Bello said “The PRP is not here to play. God-willing, by March 2019, the Benue people will have a new governor.

“PRP is the key and it signifies an entrance into a new future. Vote wisely, stay and defend your votes and do not allow them to use propaganda to divide you” he said.

The Benue PRP Chairman, Timothy Malu urged the electorates to ensure that they vote for the PRP in the general election saying the only way to secure their future and that of the state was to queue behind PRP’s Revd Ikyaan and all its candidates.

Other speakers at the occasion stressed the need for the electorate to ensure that they vote for PRP in order to have a new and developed Benue.
