Prof. Umar Pate, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Federal University Kashere (FUK), in Gombe State, has officially assumed office as its third substantive VC, with a call on the university staff to support him in moving the university forward.
Pate, who made the call while speaking with journalists in Kashere, on Wednesday, shortly after the handing over ceremony, noted that moving the university to a greater height required collective responsibility, hence the call to staff.
“The Federal University is still a young institution, we need to put hands together and move the institution to enviable height,” he said.

The VC pledged to improve on the existing development as well as engage in serious research because “research is what differentiates a University from a Secondary school.”
He also said that he would work to attract the attention of government, and well wishers, to help build the institution’s staff quarters, as well as mobilize funds, construct additional structures in the institution, so as to provide an environment that would be conducive for learning and research.
Pate was appointed in December 2020, as FUK’s third Vice Chancellor, by the University Governing Board, after the completion of the five-year tenure of Prof. Alhassan Gani. (NAN)
