The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has fixed May 15 for a pre-hearing session on the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
This is as the Chairman of the tribunal and President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa assured that all parties in the petitions filed before the tribunal would be treated justly.
There are four petitions filed to challenge the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress in the February 23 poll.
Speaking at the inaugural sitting of the tribunal, earlier before the cases were called, Bulkachuwa assured Nigerians and the international community that the tribunal would stick to the Nigerian Constitution, other relevant statutes and international best practices.
She said justice would be done to all parties without fear or favour, affection or ill-will.

After the inaugural sitting, two petitions filed by the Hope Democratic Party, WDP and its candidate, Ambrose Awuru as well as the PDP and Atiku were called and adjourned for pre-hearing session.
The petition by WDP was adjourned till May 14, while the PDP got May 15.
Pending interlocutory applications are to be heard at the next sittings.
Meanwhile, Bulkachuwa said that there were over 700 petitions from the just concluded election with Imo State having the highest number with 78 petitions.
