Wife of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, Hajiya Hajara Alkali Baba, who spoke through her office as the National President of Police Officers’ Wives Association, POWA, said she would establish a skill acquisition center in Benue state.
She disclosed this while speaking with journalists after a courtesy visit to the Och’Idoma, His Royal Majesty, Agaba-Idu, John Elaigwu Odogbo, at his palace in Otukpo, Otukpo Local Government Area, LGA, of the state on Tuesday.
Hahaha Alkali Baba said since she assumed office over a year ago, she has inaugurated a skill acquisition center in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers state while work is ongoing on the one in Imo state.
Despite the successes, the POWA president said one of her greatest achievements was to revive the body which was hitherto comatose nationally.
“I have also set up a skill acquisition center in Port-Harcourt with the support of the state government. Right now you have wives of police officers benefitting from the scheme; not just them but even persons in the community in which the project is sited are benefiting from the center.

“In Imo state, I’ve done the ground breaking of another acquisition center and work has reached an advanced stage.”

She further stated that “In Kuje, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, there is no school in the barracks and I have performed the foundation stone laying ceremony and work on the school is ongoing.”
Earlier, she had hinted the Ochi’Idoma that her visit to Benue was to replicate what she has done in other states.
She said during her five-day visit to Benue, she would focus on education, health and welfare, and would seek support of the state government to intervene in the aforementioned areas.
Responding, His Royal Majesty, Ochi’Idoma Agaba-Idu, John Elaigwu Odogbo, advised the POWA President, to make truth, equity, fairness and above all the fear of God, her watch words
The royal father who advised the wife of the IG to carry her lieutenants along, told her that an opportunity has been given to her to impact her generation and all she needs to do is tow the path of truth and history would vindicate her.
The IGP’s wife also visited Owukpa, her home town, during her visit to Benue state.
