A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Emeka C. Kalu, has urged the Federal Government not to rest on its oars, stressing that the Post-COVID-19 economy will not be palatable for the nation.
Kalu, National Publicity Secretary, Peoples Democratic Party Youth Alliance (PDPYA), in a statement released in Lagos on Friday, said the Federal Government should not continue to run the nation with loans not channelled towards capital development.
The PDP chieftain, Director General, Global Initiative for Good Governance (GIGG) and a one-time governorship candidate in Abia State, maintained that as far as Nigeria had not been borrowing to build industries, refineries and production lines, but for consumption, the nation would be in for tough days ahead.
He stressed that a leader that did not invest in the future of a nation had already failed, adding that a stitch in time saves nine.

He stressed: “We have locked Nigeria for too long without achieving anything as the COVID-19 cases continued to skyrocket. A government with clue will devise alternative approach to managing the pandemic without grounding our economy.
“I do not see the sense in lifting air travel without considering measures to open interstate movement which comprises movers of the economy.
“We can put and enforce precautionary and preventive measures that will guarantee movement without transporting the disease.
“Our country is under the weight of debt without plans of escape. We should either put effort into production, or keep enslaving generations to come.
“Nigerians should not keep silent over the dwindling state of our economy, which is almost in near comatose.”
