The Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis has lent his voice to the cause of Leah Sharibu, the only schoolgirl abducted by the Boko Haram terrorists at Dapchi village, Yobe State still in captivity.
She was abducted over a year ago alongside 109 other girls who have since been released.
Leah, has however remained in the hands of her abductors because she refused to renounce her Christian faith.
Addressing news men on Monday in Nnewi, the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi, Most Rev. Hilary Okeke disclosed that the Catholic Bishops Conference had formally involved the Pope in Leah Sharibu’s case and that he had gotten in touch with President Muhammadu
“The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria had formally involved the Holy father, Pope Francis on the matter.
“The papacy has reached out to President Muhammadu Buhari on the issue. So, we are not relenting,” he said.

The Bishop, who challenged Christians to return to God, condemned what he described as the rising spate of idol worship and neo-paganism among Nigerian Christians.
While accepting the existence of traditional and cultural practices before the coming of Christianity, Bishop Okeke stressed that most of such practices had been refined by the church.
Noting that idolatry remained the greatest sin against God, he said: “Any Catholic who wishes to take any title must sign an undertaking that no pagan rituals or idolatrous sacrifices would be involved, or such person would be excommunicated.”
