In the wake of rising insecurity across the country, the Anambra State Police Command has said henceforth its personnel will guard lodges where the National Youth Service Corps members in the state are accommodated.
The state Commissioner of Police, John Abang, made the disclosure on Tuesday when he received the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Kehinde Aremu, who paid him a visit in his office in Awka.
Requesting the addresses of the corps members’ lodges in the state to enable the command patrol and secure them, the CP assured that the corps members will be kept safe across the state.
“The security of corps members in the state forms part of the responsibility of my command.
“I assure you of adequate and maximum security and safety of corps members and their lodges across the state, he said.
Earlier, the NYSC coordinator had thanked the police for the protection of the corps members during their orientation camp and appealed to the command to intensify patrol around the corps members’ lodges in the state.
