The Benue State Police command says it would provide adequate security before, during and after the 2019 general elections in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon gave the assurance in a statement signed by police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Moses Joel Yamu.
The police boss said as campaigns are set to commence on November, 18, his officers and men would be ready to provide adequate security to the people of the state.
He said the Command in collaboration with other security agencies would ensure hitch-free campaigns and election proper.
Mr. Okon, therefore, warned the people against engaging in all forms of thuggery, hooliganism and vandalism of campaign billboards.

He also warned against vote buying and selling as well as selling and buying of permanent voters’ card (PVC).
“For security purposes, unapproved political rallies, gatherings and processions would not be tolerated in the interest of fairness, justice and peaceful coexistence,” the statement reads in part.
“To this end, any political party or party flagbearer who has the intention to stage any political rally and procession and gathering should as a matter of importance and security concern, apply for clearance to the commissioner of police at least 48 hours before the time of the event.”
He also appealed to the people not to take laws into their hands during the electioneering campaign period.
He urged them to report any suspicious persons or actions to the nearest Police Station.
