The Enugu State Police Command has alerted Enugu residents of activities of online and financial fraudsters allegedly operating in some parts of the state warning them to be cautious.

Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement on Sunday in Enugu disclosed that the Police unearthed the activities of the criminals through recent intelligence information.

He disclosed further that the fraudsters operated from rented apartments and hired ad-hoc staff to run outfits which offer money-doubling services only to abscond with the deposits of their victims.

“To this end, the command has advised members of the public to be security-conscious and be wary of this development and the antics of these mischief makers who want to reap from where they did not sow.

“The command further advises members of the public to always conduct proper background check with a view to establishing the genuineness of the said business and to report promptly to any nearest police station where doubt exists.

“Residents should call the command’s distress numbers of 08032003702, 08075390883, 08086671202 and 08098880172.

“Or through our social media platforms of twitter@PoliceNG_Enugu and Facebook @nigeriapoliceforceenugustatecommand,’’ Amaraizu said.

Amaraizu said that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Sulaiman Balarabe, had directed police operatives to fish out those in the habit so that they would be investigated diligently and brought to book.
